To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is in reference to teaching candidate Amanda Star.  I have known Ms. Star

in the capacity of substitute teacher for two years.  Ms. Star is the teacher I always

request when I am going to be absent.  She is organized, cheerful, and has proven

herself to be an extremely capable classroom manager across the grade levels and in

overcrowded classrooms brimming with children possessing diverse needs and

backgrounds; I always can trust she will manage any challenge.  Ms. Star disciplines

with dignity and has a special sensitivity for serving children with special needs.

She communicates clearly and gets done all tasks set before her with

professionalism and aplomb. As a colleague, Ms. Star has a sense of humor, an

artistic flair, and a contagious and conversational joie de vivre that make her well

liked among both staff and students.

Frankly and personally, I think it is a shame that she has not yet been afforded a

classroom of her own.  Given her talents, she is overdue for this opportunity.  I know

she had hoped to be placed at our school, but the positions that opened required

endorsements she did not have.  Frankly, I think Ms. Star is a bit of a “steal;” she has

lots of experience for the cost of a new teacher, and I have no doubt she will be an

academic asset, a “favorite” teacher amongst the children and a ray of sunshine to

any institution wise enough to grab her.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.  Thank you for your serious

consideration of this exemplary candidate.  I hope Ms. Star will soon be shining at

your school!

Sincerely,

Esme Codell
